OK, I hate it! Summer is horrible time for my budget!! We are so broke and it is only going to get worse over the summer. We have commited to not creating any new CC debt, and we have been sucessful (thus far) in doing that, but we are so broke, and I hate it. Our child care cost are brutal in the summer, and combined with my new job. Same rate of pay, but large pension contributions, so take home is much lower, it is awful. I can't wait until fall, one kid in school full-time and my youngest in JK which will free up about $ 600 a month. I know I needed a pension, and the long term benifits outweigh the short term pain, but let me tell you right now the short-term pain, HURTS!!!
I just want to go buy something and not feel totally stressed about it! I want to be able to afford swimming lessons and all the fun summer stuff and not be freaking out all the time. I keep trying to budget and save for the summer, the problem is that there in no extra left......UGGGHHH!!!

I hear ya. Summer used to be a disaster for us. Kids' camp, summer vacation, and TWO kids' birthdays in June.
Last year I decided, "Stop the insanity!" My DH got a job working at the best day camp in the area, so the kids went free all summer. I also told DH and the kids, no beach vacation in 2005, for the first time in 7 years. This year he's working at camp and he is in management, so he's getting paid, and his salary will be used to fund a traveling vacation (not a beach vacation) at the end of the summer. So this summer basically will not cost us a dime. First time in 13 years!
Hang in there . . . as long as you don't keep having kids ;) this too shall pass. DS starts kindergarten in 10 weeks - NO MORE PRESCHOOL AND DAYCARE, WHOO-HOOOOOOOO!!!
