Many of us freely share our debt amounts on this board. Don't worry, you are *not* alone in the amount of your debt. There are those of us on this board that wish we had started repaying our debt when it was "only" as much as you have, lol.
Mine is *currently* just under $18k (not counting car which is less than 8k or house which is around 133k). But that is after three years of hard work (during two of which we made some pretty serious sacrifices to get where we are). We started with over $30k.
Our CC debt is $9,900 on one card. It's at 0% until it's paid off, but starting in August, we have to make 2 purchases per billing period. They can be small purchases, even under $1.00. This type of agreement makes me nervous, so we will probably transfer it to another card (with a 0% or slightly higher offer) before August.
We will pay off this credit card by Xmas. We are excited to have our CC debt so low. It was about $70,000 a year ago, but we used some of the proceeds of the sale of our condo to pay most of it off.
We very openly discuss our debt totals here - hey, if folks on the board know our numbers, then they can celebrate each time we drop down 1K...or even $1!
All my best,
Danni
12,384.99. I looked it up and now I'm smiling because I think of it as being at 12,500 and it's not.
This isn't our target debt though and I'm very excited because our 2nd mortgage bill arrived and we're below the 7,000 mark (6995).

Welcome to the board, I read your earlier post and didn't get a chance to welcome you, so welcome aboard! You have a found a great resource for support while you are paying off your debts. I started really paying on my debts in January of 2004 at which time I had a debt total of close to $29,000. On one income I have gone from that to $11,667.28, of which $2039 is CC debt and the rest is a car loan. It's very exciting to see the totals go down each month! This board has made such a HUGE difference in how I look at my debt and my day to day spending. Anyway, enough for now, welcome to the board, I'm sure you will like it here! BTW, your dog is adorable! :)

deciding to be happy doesn't mean that everything is perfect, but that you had decided to look beyond the imp
- mines at $33,027 and that with a car pay at about $9,000 left to pay. Ohhh that number hurts. But I can tell you this - it will NEVER get any bigger then that. I can't wait for the day where I tell people - yup, BTDT and you too can get out of debt and go on with your life. Someday, someday....

My total credit card & medical debt is $15560.00 on 3 cards & 1 doctor, and 1 hospital.
My goal is too have it paid off by Sept 2006. And then I have a car loan of $3500 or so that the next payment is due in June 2007. So I will pay that off before the due date.
Getting out of debt is a month by month process as I am finding out.

Hmmm...well....*technically* I think we are inching toward that 20K mark, but 10K of it was rolled into our house for re-financing (and I still count that as CC debt) and the rest of what we have charged some of that is with the "credit card shuffle" which I'm in the midst of.

Most of our stuff was long-ago charged off and sent to collections.
Mine is kind of all over the map right now -- me, too, on the current credit card shuffle as I am transferring balances. The amount I plugged into the Quicken debt repayment is at about $34K, mostly credit card debt which came from advances and moving money around to pay for a house addition. But unfortunately that is not all. We have a mortgage and a huge second mortgage. We also owe about $6K to a line of credit tied to our checking account. I have one car lease and one paid off. I hope to buy out the lease because I don't really like the idea of being scared all the time the kids are going to trash the upholstery or I will go over my alloted miles.
I am repaying everything at a decent clip ($900 to $11,000 a month) but not fast enough for my liking -- esp. this summer as we are being killed by summer child care. I am hoping to have everything paid off in about three years with a much better comfort level in about 18 months. My goal is to have enough money to proceed with an international adoption. Jenny
