Eating out!

Everyday its a struggle to break the habit.....forcing myself to PACk a lunch...then to EAT the lunch I packed rather then decide "but TOday, just Today...im Really in the mood for Subway" . . . then forcing myself to go HOME to eat dinner...."but I was Good at lunch, I should reward myself."

heh.

I worked for about 2 years at a job with unlimited working hours. I averaged over 80 hours a week adn regularly had over 100 hours worked in a week. I also lived with a gal who has a very different idea of what a "clean kitchen" is. So, for 2 years, I ate nearly Every meal out.--not at "expensive" places...pizza, Wendy's, Waffle House....but still. I quit the job, the roomie moved out and habits did NOT change.
One day I looked in my fridge and it contained ketchup, BBQ Sauce and butter. My freezer had ice and a lonely bag of snap peas. I couldnt gather the MONEY to grocery shop because I was spending $10 a day on food, easy.

It really freaked me out to go and spend over $100 that first time on groceries...andnow I still struggle to do a once a week shopping trip....and then to use the groceries.

ugh. 2 years to MAKE the bad habit. . . .

Ok. off to make lunch. :D

I also have the hardest time not dining out. I am a sucker for drive thrus. I also "treat" my daughter alot. I try and order for myself from the dollar menu but it still adds up! I am always using food as entertainment, and that is not good!! I am trying to stop that and in the process save money and lose pounds!

Most definitely! Thus the reason for my “Grocery & Toiletries Exile” as posted yesterday. So far it’s going well, not only have I not spent any money since I filled my car up with gas on Saturday I actually found a penny this morning!

I’m eating healthier because I’m preparing my own meals instead of eating out (except my mom did treat me to dinner last weekend) and I’m more aware of what I have stocked away in my kitchen that I had forgotten about. And I smell great because I’m using all those bath products I used to save.

So yes, daily changes are being made here and they are great, they are positive changes so I’m not feeling deprived of my shopping trips at all.

I don't personally believe that it is possible to get and stay out of debt unless you are willing to make some changes.

Everyday its a struggle to not eat out or to not stop at the clothes stores. I have a hard time with the "wants" vs actual "needs". I have changed my habits. I still have a hard time with them. When I start to see light, I tend to back track. I have since determined that I need to stay vigilent with not spending money and curbing the urge to eat out all the time no matter if its a scrapeing by month or a comfortable month. I struggle all the time with eating out at work. By like one of the people said before, it took years to create this cycle. It will take years to break it. (Well, hopefully, not that long!) Stopping creating more debt is the goal, and I have done that.
