What have you discovered as a strength you possess as you are going thru your debt journey? Have you come to realize you are good at managing a particular thing? Are you better at saying no than you thought? Are you more flexible or creative that you thought? Do you have coping skills that you are sharing? Are you better at stretching a dollar than you thought? Have you found research skills you never used before?

How do you think your strengths have assisted you in your debt journey?

I have always been good with money! My husband is horrible and he admits if we had to rely on him paying the bills we would live in a card board box somewhere. For a few years I just let my emotions get over my head, and never told him no.

So of course I recently found the strength to tell him no. Its really quite easy, and I am actually throughly enjoying myself. Its amazing how all the little stuff eating out, tool purchases, and some of the big stuff, fourwheelers, trucks, zero turn lawn mowers, and my vacations can really kill a budget and create CREDIT CARD DEBT! Yikes...

Well, I think my strength is organization and being a bit of a budget/financial info junkie. I enjoy running #'s out over the months to see how we are doing and how quickly we can get there (debt free). I have started a 34 month countdown this week. I am good about paying all bills ahead or at least by the due date. Not so good about any extra income we have - we tend to BLOW alot of cash! I am good at planning cheap meals, saying no to eating out, and using coupons (which drives my DH nuts). I am trying to be more aware of leftovers/fresh ingredients that need to get used up or we'll end up tossing them because they are old.

Have a good week!

I think I'm learning to say no more easily. My hubby is also saying no, we can't afford it. We are more aware of our financial situation as before and we are learning not to just blow money as we used to, but we remind ourselves of the consequences. We are learning to ask and answer certain questions like... can we afford it? do we really need it? and most of the times our answers are "no". We are learning to get by with less and it teaches us self-discipline, which we sorely lack, obviously or we wouldn't be in such a bind. So this whole situation is something that strengthens us, as we find out about our talents in manageing our money (or rather debt) better.
