How about this for a snowflake???

Last night while I was just sitting at home after dinner trying to find something to watch on tv, my brother called and said that he had just heard my name on the radio and that I had to call back in. So, after frantically calling information to get the station's number, I got through, in time! Long story short, I won $1060.00!!!!

Now I am trying to figure out what to do with the money, I know I should use it all to pay towards debt, what a snowflake this would be!! I would only have $129 left on my CC and then just my car loan! But, I think I will treat myself to a digital camera, I need one desperately. Need or want? Whatever, for once I am going to splurge on this one, and then probably use the rest for my CC.

What would you all do?

I would take part of it and splurge and then pay off your cc. Don't forget to put some aside for taxes. You definitely deserve a treat though.

Congrats.

That is so awesome! Is the $1060 after taxes? I wwould also treat myself to something, and snowflake the rest!

I vote for treat and snowflake too - though you've got to be careful with digital cameras - they tend to come with really small memory cards, so you'll of course want a bigger one, and then transferring photos to the computer via their connection cable is murder on their batteries, so you'll want to get a card reader.

All my best,

Thanks! I will definitely keep those things in mind when looking for a camera. I am really excited, although I still keep wondering if it really happened! :) I am going to take my brother and his wife out to a nice dinner as a thank you!

That's terrific! Don't forget to set aside about 30% for taxes. They'll seriously take a bit out of it at tax time. Put it in an interest-bearing account (like ING, which has great rates), and leave it alone until tax time. If you end up not owing, or getting a refund, you can use that portion of the windfall at that time; and if you do end up owing, you'll already have it set aside, with interest. :)

I agree--split it up. Use some for a treat, and some for your debt. And treat your brother!

You might also want to put some in a savings account for emergencies.

Have fun!

I would buy your self the digital camera. Within reason of course. My mom just got me a great Nikon for $199.

And then I would snowflake the rest to your cc.
