I spend almost nil money on clean-up products etc., but use a rather expensive shampoo since the cheap stuff made my hair look and feel (and smell!) ridiculous, and expensive skin care, which I stock up on about twice a year when I find a three-for-two sale somewhere. Only expensive thing is - razor blades for my husband. No way to get around that. We stock up on them, too.
I have a huge canister of a soft soap based detergent - it makes things just as clean as the expensive stuff does, and is better on the environment (and my hands when I scrub...). For heavy scrubbing I have a sand-soap-mixture. Both are pretty cheap :-)

It's good to know when others post their grocery budget that most don't include toiletries and other purchases, but for yourself it doesn't matter. You set a budget and you stick to it, if you like how you categorize stuff then it's good. I don't care what the experts say, the only person that is an expert on my personal budget is me :)
I am working on getting my under $300 per month for me and dd. I include non-grocery items like light bulbs, toilet paper, cleaning supplies and makeup because 1) I don't spend that much on those items and 2) I really don't want to sit down with my grocery receipts and break it all out separately. Last month I got it to $242 which I think is great. Even at $300 that is three meals a day for me all month, and three meals a day for dd when she's here (half the time, she's with her dad the other half) because we make breakfast at home and we both take our lunches (me to work, her to school obviously). That is approximately 132 meals each month at $2.72 per meal. It would be less if I excluded non-grocery items, and if I really wanted to get to that level of detail I could, but I don't.
