Watch Out for False TransUnion Letter
| Fri, 08-05-2005 - 2:21pm |
Just want to share with everyone that I got a letter from TransUnion saying that 6 negative items were added to my credit report. I order a copy of my credit report and found none. (In fact, my score is close to 800). I called TransUnion and asked them what was going on, and they said they are investigating some sort of problem and assured me that my credit is just fine.
In that letter, it said you can obtain free copies of your credit report by calling this number or writing to this address with your name and SS#. I am glad I did not do it because that number is not the same as I have for TransUnion. Just imagine the damage these people could ahve done had I just call whatever number on this fake letter and give them my SS#!

Sounds like it could be a scam. I remember a while ago, letter from Citibank were being sent to their customers. However, the letter was a scam. It was not from Citibank. It was a way to get people's personal information.
Good for you. For the replying so quickly.
