Good news!!!

I have been working retail for eight years now, the salary is good, and right now I am working third shift Thursday-Sunday. I have it set up so I work 35 hours (which is full time), have three days off, get a $2.00 shift premium, etc. Anyhow, I was going to go back to school in the fall, but have since changed my plans because the financial aid wasn't good enough, and I have no definite career plan, my health, etc..timing isn't right. Anyway, mine is the second income of the household, and well, my kids are my day job. Anyhow, because I thought I was going back to school, I had decided to send my oldest back to public school, and my youngest will be in kindergarten full day as well. A bit depressing to me because of my unorthodox schedule..
Well, today my mananger called me at home. He wants me to work Monday thru Thursday and have the weekends off. WHAT??? I will be doing the same job, but I will actually have quality time with my husband and kids. We never have had time together on the weekends because I have ALWAYS worked the weekends. My husband and I will celebrate our 9th anniversary this week, and I have been with the same company for all but six months of that time. I am so EXCITED!!!!! I will get to sleep while the kids are in school, maybe catch a nap before I go to work in the evening, and be home and awake! when the kids are home. This is really a blessing for our family : )
I'm not so down now about passing up school...I don't want to rack up $20,000 in student loans without having a clearer picture of what the future is going to hold for my dd. Anyway, I just thought I would share, because this is about the best unexpected news I have gotten WOOOHOOO!!!!! Heather

That is awesome, Heather! How exciting for you to get to spend more time with your family. I remember the days of night job for money, day job watching the kids. Not fun. I never felt present for my son (only had one at that time). Having the weekends off together is SUCH a blessing.
Congratulations. Blessings,
Heather
Absolutely, let me second that congratulations!! That is so wonderful and truly a blessing for you and your family. Enjoy it! :)

I just got more good news...our local UCP is providing respite one Saturday a month starting in September..which means my dh and I will get to have time ALONE. LOL!!!! (with my old schedule, I wouldn't have been able to take advantage of it) It just keeps getting better and better!!!
