Good morning!
Here's the follow up to the removal of the braces story: I will be helping my niece's mother pay the orthodontist, but I'm glad it was not as much as I had anticipated it woud be to keep the braces on. She is now "responsible" for paying the doctor instead of her husband, but this is very interesting: She had a long talk with the billing manager, and the billing manager produced for her a 3 page list of all the excuses her husband had made in the last 2 years of why he couldn't pay them. 3 pages! She was stunned and mortified, but for now there is an agreeable arrangement to pay the doctor back. I just hope she does stick to it.
I am feeling rather frustrated with my debt repayment plans. I don't feel like I am getting anywhere. The bills are going up, and food and gas are so expensive. I am trying very hard to avoid using credit cards with some success right now. If that's all I can really do right now, to not create more debt, then I guess that is all I can do. My snowflaking is on hold again as that money is needed for the orthodntist bill now, and I have a couple things I have to save for coming up in October. Also, I have to take a quick trip out of town, and I anticipate it will be expensive (long story), so I am trying to just not create new debt and also try to be more frugal.
Cousin Bernadette (the name I give to my relationship with debt) has received a few fashion magazines, and she's been asking me to go out and start looking at fall clothes I cannot afford. I just keep telling her to leave me alone which I know she won't, so I need to distract myself from her siren call. I do have a lot of craft activities that I can focus on....and I need to clean the house!!! She will be nagging at me, but.....
I also got a lot of coupons in the mail this week for fall shoppping, but spending is not saving! A sale is spending less, but it not saving!
This week I got about 10 0% credit card offers which I shredded, of course.
Have a happy Saturday! Littlesbigs

Glad to hear you worked it out with your niece's mother and she was able to work it out with the orthodontist. It is vitally important that the braces stay on. The office manager (or who ever) at the office probably kept a copy of all the excuses of why the bill hadn't been paid in case they needed to take it to court (not to embarass the mother). But, they would rather do anything than go that route and it seems like everyone was able to work it out.
Now as for Cousin Bernadette, have you tried telling her she will spend a long time in a plastic ziploc bag of water, stuck way back in the freezer where it is the coldest, if she doesn't leave you alone? Just a thought.
