BTW....my hat goes out to you. I know if my husband had an ex-wife, I wouldn't be able to hang out that like with her. When I was dating, I never dated a man with kids.
You are truly awesome if you can spend that amount of time around your DH's ex and not go crazy. I don't think I could.
I added up what I spent for my kindergartener and spent all of $22, so I am not looking forward to when she gets older and needs more. She is also learning to make choices so we don't over spend.
That was great to read!!!! I also homeschool, and we picked up 4 notebooks for 10 cents apiece! They aren't "needed" but I'm sure for a whopping 40 cents total, we will find a use for them during the next year!
I LOVE not having to buy a backpack, pencil box, 3 ring binder for each class, etc!!! He DOES get nice clothing, but that is because Mom and Grandma both like to dress him well! :)
I feel sorry for parents who send their children to public and private schools and fork out hundreds of dollars each year! And then have to pay for books, too! Yikes!!!
Back to school time is always interesting, lol. This year, I had my DD figure out what the great deals were as part of a girl scout badge she's working on. When we were shopping, she was shocked that anyone would choose to get the more expensive notebooks when she could get the 10/$1. I think I had more fun watching the lightbulb go on for her about looking for good deals than she'll ever know!
I'm a stepmom (One StepDD,one stepDS) also, but back to school shopping with them is so not my favorite thing. When we ask what they need, they don't know for sure, but maybe they'll need this, that, or the other. ERRRRRR. I'm glad that you all get along well. With the ex-wife & I, the best that can be said is that it's not open warfare, lol. It's all good about the 'wicked stepmother' comment-it reminded me of when the kids' mom told them to call me "Stepmother" (in a not-so-nice way, if you catch my drift) instead of Lisa. It made me so mad, that I sat them down and had them watch "Snow White." After it was done, I told them,"That woman was a wicked stepmother. I am not. Call me Lisa." We haven't had too many problems after that, LOL!
Good for you on school supplies.
