Regrouping on a lovely Sunday morning

Yesterday I officially started my new work schedule..I will work Mon-Thurs and be off the weekend. Yesterday was a peaceful sort of day. I took the kids to the park..we like to just walk around outside. My youngest likes to blow on every dandelion. Then we came home and I took a nap, since I had been up since 7AM the day before. We went to our town;s Germanfest, which is free. We didn't bring any cash with us, so we couldn't buy any food, but I told the kids that maybe I would buy some charcoal and we could cook out at the park today, since I am well rested now. At the video store I go to, on Tues-Thurs, you can get a rental from their cheap rentals (anything that is not a new release) for free when you rent a new release. So we rented Because of Winn Dixie and had a little family movie night on Thursday, and then me and dh watched 50 First Dates last night..it was ok.
My conference in NY was cancelled. I am out a lot of money. The airline told me I can use the tickets to go anywhere this year if I am willing to opay a $100 change fee per ticket plus the difference in fares. Also, since the ticket was not transferrable, only me and dh can use them, which is really a bummer since really, we don't go together unless it is a family vacation..one of us usually stays home with our youngest so she doesn't miss therapy.
My oldest starts school at the Virtual Academy this week. I had all of the materials but sent them back because of a little confusion. Anyhow, we go through K12, and it is a lot of work. But I really like to do this with her (sort of homeschoolimg, but we are sent the curriculum, and we do talk with a teacher twice a month), it is amazing how much different it is what we will be teaching versus what she would learn in a regular puublic school. When i was thinking about sending her to school with her sister, I looked at their curriculum and realized she is basically a grade ahead already! I hope we get the materialsin time or she will be a little behind right from the beginning. My youngest doesn't start until after Labor Day.
One of my friends and i are supposed to meet on Wednesday to go to the Outlet Mall. This was actually my idea, but I am going to call her and ask if she'd like to picnic and go hiking instead. the kids would really like that, and I feel like conserving resources right now, as I have nothing in savings (spent it on the plane tickets). My youngest only needs a few more things for school, so it won't be too much.
For now, I am glad I am not going back to school. I want to get our debts paid off. My target is Best Buy. I only owe them $75. Maybe I will wipe themout this week...with the money I was going to spend on shopping.

have a great Sunday,everyone!! Heather

Sounds like a lovely time indeed.

I'm sorry to hear the conference was officially cancelled.
