I know this may seem minor with what is going on on the Gulf Coast, but I just had to share that DH and I have made it a whole month with out eating out. We didn't step into a resturant the whole month of August.
The longest we had been before was one week. Now DH has challanged us to make it another month. DD asked when we were going to eat out again, and DH said that we would do it for special occasions--ie birthdays, anniversarys, Mother's Day, etc.
It has really helped our budget to. I didn't realize what a difference it would make.
Have a good day.

Congratulations!!!
Im sure it has made SUCH an impact on your budget!!!
I'm struggling with the same thing. I have gotten it down to one lunch out a week (Thursday lunchtime). and it is sooo hard. so many days I stare at the fridge thinking "what will I take for lunch?" and then this voice says "you've been good a while, just go to subway at lunch. its only $5."
then I say "$5. plus gas. plus I'd have to take a lunch break, so 30 minutes off my paid time."
then I say "stay a half hour longer"
AND then comes the closing argument! "My take home from 1/2 hour is only $5. so that paysfor the sandwich, but im STILL behind the missed 1/2 hour AND the gas money!!"
and then I grab some ramen.
:D
They say lil things add up....well, for 30 days you made the "little" decision not to eat out that day...and Im sure it has added up for you!
Congratulations!!

that's great! what an accomplishment!!! I am going to try it. I am going to start with a week first and then keep going. Our problem is we are thoughtless eaters.. just grab and go. I can't remember the last time we went to a real restaurant but we frequently grab fast food or convience store food.
there is an article in this months family cirle where three families try to live as furgally as possible and the amount that these people saved by not eating out is amazing! very encouraging!
again, great job!
