Hi, everyone. Well, the refinance went through. Got a fixed rate. DH decided that we should pay off everything. Cars, cc's, etc. Monthly payments will be about $300 more. The shocker? Well, the amount we owe on the house will go up about$40,000. No surprise. Remember, DH has the $11K or so in HIS checking account, from the refi we did last yr.. For a rainy day, or for whatever he pleases. So what does he do? He went out and bought a HDTV. Did he tell me? No. I found out when the cable guy called to set up installation date. I just spent a bundle on bills, and all I have in my account is $25.00 now. There are more medical bills coming in. And, I got the news from the doc that I have to have more tests. Is it serious? Could be. I am sooo mad, I could spit cotton. Sorry for venting, but I am sooo mad that DH has me pay a lot of the bills right now, when he is sitting on $11K in the bank. Whiz.

Hi Whiz,

good to hear the refi went through, not good to hear about your husbands 'shopping tour'. I have no idea what a HDTV-set costs, but it sounds like expensive. And letting you sit there with the bills while he has the money is not really what one would call fair.

I also will keep my fingers crossed and send positive thoughts your way about the medical issue, that everything will turn out fine.

Greetings and some friendly hugs,
Jordis

Whiz,

I just read your post, and I'm mad for you! I can't believe that. I'd be so mad. Is there any way he would start paying bills? Could part of the $11k go toward bills or early monthly payments toward the refi? I have no idea how to help you, but good luck and hugs (((whiz)))!

Golly, that must be so frustrating for you, Whiz. You seem to be working hard and staying focused on conquering your debt but not getting much help or support. It's certainly not my place to offer you relationship advice, but it would seem that a long, serious talk with your DH is in order, if only to understand the reasons for choices he has made. Sending cyber hugs and positive energy your way. I hope your medical issues are resolved and that you are soon restored to health. Keeping you in my thoughts.

Hi, and thanks for your input. DH DOES pay bills (some of them, anyway), i.e., mortgage, his cc bills, phone bill, some of the sky-high gas bills, etc. What makes me mad is that he has this "cushion" that he didnt work hard to build up, just got it from that last refi. Has it dwindled? Yes. Put on a new room. He thinks I will blow it. In some ways, he might be right, so it sits in a savings account. Soooo----if it means getting a second job and using that money to pay off bills, so be it. Cutting back on the amount I was putting into mutual funds has helped some. Whiz.
