Dbf sold a house yesterday! It's his first "real" sale! We are very excited because the commission check will be over 3K. Of course we have to wait a while for the couple to sell the house they are living in now, because they can't have the closing until that time. Hopefully their house will go fast! We need the money desperately and can't wait too long...behind on many bills!

Cross your fingers that everything continues smoothly with the sale. So far, offer has been placed, and then accepted...that's the main part...but there are still other things during the process that could derail it! Everyone cross your fingers!

I am happy for you! But a careful word of caution.. I am a real estate agent too (part-time) and sales can fall through SO easily. I don't EVER count my commission until that check is in my hand.. I am not saying this to put a damper on you.. I have personally experienced the "already having the money in the bank" to "omigosh , I can't believed this sale fell through"...

I am sending good vibes your way though! Way to go!!!!!

that's great! i hope it all goes smoothly and quickly!!

i do have a question though that is slightly off topic... we bought our house a few months ago and i found the whole real estate transaction fascinating and i am thinking of maybe trying my hand at it one day. how did you bf become an agent? are there real estate schools?? i know, that sounds like a dumb question...

You need to look for a real estate course in your area...it's no an actual school, just one course. It depends on the exact course you take, my bf was able to take a course that ran 8 hours a day on saturday and sundays and he was finished in a month. For others it will take a few months, and sometimes depending on the class you will have to take section one and then sign up for a second section to complete it. Then you need to get verification from the instructor that you have successfully completed the class (basiclaly wait for your official grade) and you can then sign up to take the tests for liscencure. Not sure what state you are in, we are in PA...you take both tests at the same time, and if you do them on the computer it will tell you right away whether you passed or failed. Most ppl I know have to take it more than once, it's different than other types of tests, they are trying to weed out ppl who don't know the material so it can be difficult. But keep plugging away!

Good luck if you do decide to do it!
