Hi all....

just came from the bank and we calculated back and forth. Contemplated on refinancing putting everything on the mortgage and and and .... and we all came to the same conclusion (even the bank lady, and we know that they want to make money). For us it is best to just plug along. No matter what we tried, it would all take longer than 5 years and I told her that in 5 years we can be debt free. So I'm gonna see where I can pinch some more by maybe eating less meat and do a meal plan, which a friend of mine strongly recommended. The only set-back is that we cannot afford to fix my husband's teeth at the moment. Just can't afford it. Well, maybe in 16 months we can. So this is the situation right now. I'm scared, because we can't tighten down anymore, but we'll have to. With God's help we'll make it.

Sushi,
Glad to hear that you didn't refi (adding your c/c debt to the mix). I've heard so many stories about people doing that then maxing out their c/c agains.

Hang in there, girl.

I know it's easier said than done.

hi MYM,

yes, I'm glad too. It will be a hard 16 months for us and while we are paying off his debt in the States, we'll probably won't be able to do any extra here, but with every month it gets less. I think if we tell ourselves that all the time, it is not quite so bad. The learning experience in the next 16 months will be tremendous, we'll develop habits that will be with us for the rest of our lives, that is for sure. I am so glad when I can finally say... I am debt free. Then we'll save up for a car and pay cash for it, which will probably gives us an advantage to barter a bit too. Like if the car is 21000 and we only have 19,000 ... take it or leave it :). Just the thought of not having any CC bills or other bills, except for the house (but then, you'd have that, if you'd have to pay rent) is just so exciting. I love it.
