%*@#%@ banks!

I have had the WORST two days w/ banks! Yesterday DH took a cashier's check to the issuing bank. We wanted to turn it into two cashier's checks. They said they would not issue a cashier's check to him b/c he didn't have an account there. They would cash that one, but in $20s and $50s. It takes almost 30 minutes for this conversation to take place, and I'm waiting in the car with three kids (2, 5, 7). So he said he'd take it to our bank and if they wouldn't cash it, he was coming back to cash it there. Fine. So he went to OUR bank. Twenty five minutes later he comes out...they will deposit it and make it available in five days, but they can't cash it. Back to the other bank. Thirty MORE minutes in there and he comes out w/o cash...seems that b/c the check was issued the same day we brought it in, they couldn't cash it. The paperwork hadn't gone through the main branch yet. GRRRR. So TODAY we went to that bank again (he told them he'd be back today to cash it). He's in there 20 minutes (again, three hungry kids in the car, just before lunch time) and comes out and says they don't have the cash on hand and sent him to another branch. So we go to the other branch and have to wait 30 minutes for someone to come in off lunch. Twenty five minutes later, he comes out w/ cash. We take the cash to our bank to get the cashier's checks. THAT took 30 minutes. Then they gave him $400 too much cash back, and so he goes BACK in to tell them and they assured him that they did NOT make a mistake. We're still sitting in the parking lot at 4pm and he's supposed to be at work at 4pm. He didn't end up getting to work until 5:20 or so. Then the bank calls. They ARE short (didn't say how much) and they'll call us in a couple of days. So now I'm worried that they've been screwing up all day and they'll want a zillion dollars from us, and I'm totally pissed off by the fact that I spent over two hours sitting in parking lots in two days. And b/t me and DH...I'm the patient one. GRRRR!

I hate dealing with the bank! Especially when they say that they don't make mistakes!

My husband is in construction, and gets paid weekly, and always deposits the same amount each week in each cking and savings. Once he was on a job site in a city (not ours) but went to the ATM to make the deposit because he wasn't going to have another chance to do it. Then, my checks started bouncing all over the place. Turns out, the deposit into the checking account was shorted $140 (this was around Christmas a few years ago). When I called the bank, they insinuated that my husband took the money for himself, didn't tell me, and that's why my checks were bouncing! I was appalled! I said, isnt it interesting that in the worst part of LA, my husband makes a deposit that he TRIPLE COUNTED, and he's being accused of shorting his own wife and family...I asked for a supervisor, called the coprorate office, and the amount was credited the next day. He also gets charged to cash his check ($5 week) at the bank of his employer...doesn't seem right--it's a payroll check, not a personal check. They finally issued him a credit card, so he uses that to show that he is a customer of the bank.

At least it's over with!! Hang in there! And, I'd be worried about a bank that didn't have enough cash on hand (lol!)
