Ok, so you can't avoid it...Halloween is here, at least it is in Retail-land. The grocery store I go to is all decked out with orange and black, the candy and costumes are the features of the special sales aisle, and there are hunderds of pumpkins in front of the store, too.

What are you doing for Halloween? How much money are you going to spend on it? Does being in debt now influence what you will be doing? Are you giving out candy or keeping your doors locked? Are you buying for Halloween now, or are you going to wait? Is Halloween a sore subject in your house right now because of the debt?

If you aren't ready to think about this coming Halloween, perhaps you can share a funny story or your favorite Halloween "trick" or "treat" from your past.

This year we actually grew three pumpkins in our garden somehow! WEll we planted them but i'm surprised they actually lived! So we have them sitting on our front steps and we will use them for carving when the time comes. I bought two costumes at chidrens place for dd last year on clearance after halloween, for like 6 dollars for both of them, they are a pumkin and a butterfly, they are a little big and she doesn't like to keep the hat part on, but i don't want to spend anymore money on a costume for her b/c they are so exp. so she will probably be the pumkin and well just try to get her to keep the hat on best we can! My son wants to be darth vader, i am trying to convince him to be something else, b/c i hate those cheap costumes at wal mart (i should say expensive but cheaply made) but.... it is my fault for not hunting around and having something already for him from a garage sal or something. He is 9 so he is picky though anyway. Also i would like to go to the apple orchard for a hay ride and apple picking next weekend, i have always wanted to do that but usually worked on the weekends so now that i'm not working i can't wait to do it! I always forget that fall is my favorite time of year!

Thanksgiving comes before Halloween in Canada, so I kinds double dip on the decorations. I have over the last few years accumlated some decorations.

I have seem tombstones make from styrofoam and them placed in the lawn of garden. (Like the flat stuff that comes in cartons)

We trade costumes with another family we know. I bought a costume form younger son, and then we borrowed one from my older son from our friends. I also buy them at yard sales and the kids play with them all year in the imagination box.

Does any one make goody bags for the kids classes at school?? Any really good Halloween recipes??
