Rather than waiting until after the holidays for your purse, could you hint around to family and friends that you would love a new purse? You might be lucky enough to be given an early holiday gift that you can enjoy throughout the holidays....without breaking your budget. :-D

Sounds like you did wonderful at the store. I find it hard to go to Target and Walmart without spending $100+. LOL!

starbucks is in "my bookstore" and "my target"! my two favorite stores in the world! urgh... i am a total frappaccino-aholic (is there a support group for that?). Man, i love those things. They have a pumpkin spice one now that is just.... yumm!!!! it tastes like a yummy piece of pumpkin pie covered with whipped cream with a nice cup of coffee... excuse me while i wipe the drool off my keyboard. i have not been in either of these stores for awhile. I am going to save up my measly spending money from our budget and then go on a little treat trip. Kid free, husband free.. just me and frappuccino happily strolling the aisles...

I have to say to you, great job resisting the hats and purses. I also want a new hat and scarf set this time of year and target always has a super cute selection. I just can't resist those pastel, fluffy ones, that are soooo soft!!! As for purses, I am still using a straw beach bag type thing that i bought at a flea market for three dollars a few months ago. It's ginormus...you could fit a kid in there.

I know it's not the same.. but do you know how to crochet or knit? maybe you could get a skein of yard (sometimes as low at 2 dollars) and you can get a nice hat or scarf made fromt that. Not to mention, it's totally relaxing (once you get the pattern down.)

great job resisting the retail monsters!

You did good. I know how difficult it is to restrain yourself (Target does have cute stuff!)

I took my daughter to Joann's last night to get some clay and poster board for school projects, and this is typically my downfall. In fact, I worked there last Christmas and ended up spending a lot of my pay before I left for the day! Anyway, we got her clay and posterboard and a paint by numbers, totalling about $12 (the clay was 30% off and I used a coupon for the paint by numbers). All the fall stuff was marked way down (isn't it always?) and I looked around and guess what? There was tons of cute stuff but absolutely nothing I couldn't live without. I think it's the first time I've ever gone into a fabric/craft store without buying anything.

It's amazing how insiduous this buying thing is. I have a Kohl's card and my MIL gave me a 15% off coupon she got in the mail. Yesterday I was looking at the coupon and thinking, "well, I could use this and then pay off whatever I charged right away, and save 15%!" And my mind was already going in that direction when I realized the coupon had expired the day before. So that put an end to that, but if it hadn't, who knows?
