Automated Creditor Calls

Just a vent...on automated collection calls.

After a tough struggle, where I just wasnt able to make ends meet . . .even CCCs wouldnt take me unless my income increased by $1000 a month.... I have decided to declare bankruptcy. Until now, most of my debt have been less then 60 days past due....so I rarely got creditors calling me.

Now, however, I file on Friday...and so haven't paid any of those bills in well over a month....so all are 30-90 days past... and the calls are starting.

well, since I am declaring bk....I have no problem answering, knowing I just need to provide the info, and they cant call anymore...so...I answer...

and its an Automated "This is a reminder from bank of America" ~~~ 5 times day! On my cell phone!!!!

So I either have to put up with THAT for a month or 2, until they get the notice...or take the time to call them myself.... grrrrrr

thats all. just a rant.

Thanks for listening (reading)

My husband missed a payment and we got the same thing. I don't understand the automated calls, because when I push the button to "take the message" they still call DH cell phone. Several times a day. At least with a human being they can take the information and record that the call has been taken. I can't wait to get BofA paid off! DH cashes his paycheck at BofA and usually hands them cash at the first of the month toward his card, but he has forgotten two months in a row (he's made the payment after I reminded him!). I told him maybe he should just start handing them $50-$100 a week that way he won't forget, AND he'll be making bigger payments, plus we won't miss the money if he's handing it over first thing.

Best of luck to you. Sorry for the BK.

Teresa ~ I too filed Chapter 13 bankruptcy 4 years ago. Prior to filing and right after I was receiving automated creditor calls for past due accounts. Instead of listening to the automation, I would hang up and call the creditor myself until I received a live person on the other end and provided the bankruptcy information. That stopped the automated calls. I wish you well. Bankruptcy is not an easy thing to go through. And, unfortunately, it will haunt us for the next 7 to 10 years.
