Checked my fico scores today...

they are still crappy. My bankruptcy was discharged 2 years ago in June and still my scores suck! I had alot of errors on my reports so once those are fixed hopefully they will go up, but I wonder how much that will really matter. I know that I have to pay down my credit cards for sure. I have three that are cut up and I have been working hard to pay those down, but I always pay on time. The other three that I use I pay more than the minimum every month and on time. I know that my debt to credit limit ratio is still too high though. I seriously doubt that my scores will be good enough in 2 years to buy a house. It seems like they will never be good again. Every time I dispute something, it gets changed and then when I check my reports 6 months later; the information is reported wrong again. It seems like its a constant battle.

I can totally relate to you! About 5 years ago I pulled my report for the first time and I got a 46 page report! I almost passed out. I know my creidt sucks because of a lot of hospital bills, but I didn't think it was that bad! Another girl was showing up on my report and she had worse credit than me! What was funny was my maiden name was Flickinger, so I was shocked to find another girl with my same name! She didn't steal my identity because I did a lot of research on her, courtesy of one of my cop friends! She even had restaining orders, which I found out one night when I got pulled over! Any way, 5 years later and my new married last name, she still pops up occasionally. I've always thought it was by ssn only.... but with Experian it's not.... I'm not the only one with problems with them..

Hang in there!

I understand completely about your discouragement on your FICO score. I just got mine and it really sucks!! I mean, I knew it was terrible. I'll tell you all about that on the hidden debt thread. But oh man. I had no idea it was that low. But something funny happened to me a few year ago, with a mistaken identity thing on my credit report. Me then husband and I were trying to refinance our house and our mortgage broker called and told us there was a huge collection account on my record. It was for a bill from a local hospital. But it was a hospital no one in my family had ever been to. They didn't take our insurance. So I called the hospital and explained my dilemma. The lady looked up the information. She told me that on such and such day I had been admitted to the hospital where I had spent about 2 weeks in intensive care and then I had died. And then she said "You know just because you died doesn't mean you don't have to pay your bill." At first I thought she was joking. But she was dead serious (pardon the pun). There had been a lady with my same first and last name who had died about a year earlier. I remember reading her obit in the paper. Not only did we share names, but her birthday was about 3 days after mine. It only took 3 months for me to get this straightened out!

OMG that is so freaky!! I am SOOOOO glad that you "survived" the experience! LOL! Sorry I had to throw that one in! It's amazing how often things like that happen. This is totally off the subject, but it made me think of something. When my uncle was dying of cancer, he applied for disability (SSI). He was living with my parents and me at the time. The process took awhile and he died before he was approved. Soon after my mother (his sister) got a letter in the mail stating that he was "denied because he had passed away". The letter went on to say "if your situation changes, please feel free to reapply". WTF!! I certainly hope they were addressing my mother in that statement and not my dead uncle! It's unbelievable to say the least. But, nonetheless, makes you greatful to be alive! Take care!
