I lie about what I spend, anyone else?

For some reason, every time I tell DH how much I spent on something, I lie about it. I don't know why. He wouldn't care, I'm sure. It's never by much only a few dollars. Does anyone else do this or is it just me? I always end up feeling really guilty afterwards. I don't know how to stop it.

Back when I was still hiding my debt from my husband, yes, I did this all the time. I'd buy a toy for our son, and when my husband would say, "You bought him another toy??", I'd say, "It was on clearance! Less than $5!" when in reality, it was a $15 toy. Ack!
I can't do that anymore with him having 24/7 access to our accounts online. ;-)

i do that to. I don't know why, it's weird. I really don't have anything to feel guilty about because i never buy myself anything. I do it for groceries and a toy occasionally for my daughter. huh... i never really thought about it. odd...

Um, no...you're not alone! I do the same thing, exactly. I have also been known to put things away and say, "No, I've had this for a while". I don't feel too badly about it though, because I NEVER pay full price for anything, and since we're budgeting our money, I only shop at Target or WalMart anyway, and a "splurge" is a trip to Old Navy, but again, I usually only get things off the clearance rack. I remember when a splurge was one of the nice department stores here in So CA!
