O.K. I just joined this week, and I admitted how I am overwhelmed. Well, I feel like such a loser. I tried to get a credit card to help chip away at the debt. I was declined. I don't know if I think I should look this as "the sign", that I need to get it together. Or that I am a loser.

I don't know, just needed to vent once again.!!!

Take it as a sign! Trust me...you can't get out of debt by adding debt! Or borrowing! It is a vicous cycle...there are other ways to get out of debt...and being on this board is a great thing for you!!!

I'm not floating my debt around from card to card either.

You are not a loser. Look at it this way, you don't add more debt.

Hi,claud441. First of all, dont even think you are a loser! We have all been tempted by the siren song of credit cards and spending beyond our means. One thing your community leaders (and others) will tell you that to break the cycle of debt, you have to not take on anymore debt. No more credit cards. Maybe to transfer to a 0% balance for life of card. But---you need to surgically cut up the cards and pay them down. It is like quitting smoking! It will take maybe a few false starts to get the hang of it, but keep coming back here and you will learn from other folks who have done it! If you have to, start small, and get a "victory", and go from there! Whiz.
