my finances are very tight.I moved into a house with a washer dryer hook up... Before I never needed washer and dryer because my apartment had one. I have been spending like 20 dollars a week on laundry so I went to one of the rent to own places. They had a washer and dryer in my house within an hour. They have 90 days same as cash t is like a grand if I pay it off. So I was wondering should I pay the ninety days and own it or wait and just rent it till after the holidays when a new washer and dryer will be in my budget? I know I could find a lower price for like 600 I just doont have the extra finances now. Any advive would be appreciated

O.K. so you were spending $80 a month on laundry previously? How much is the washer/dryer rental? How is your credit now? The reason I ask is that I think it would be less expensive to look for a 0% interest deal from a store like Sears and buy than renting and then paying the grand. It seems like the $80 from laundry would cover the minimum payment at least until after the holidays. Isn't that essentially what you do with the rental place but at much higher prices?

$1000 seems pretty steep for a washer and dryer., especially if it is used. you might have better luck putting aside what you can and buying one from a private owner out of the newspaper outright. Three years ago, I sold my 2 year old Maytag set for $400, about half of what I paid for it because I was moving into a place that didn'thave w/d hookups. Rent to own places tend to gouge the people who can least afford it.

Look in your local paper for used ones. We got ours from a friend in the family for free. Also go to Craigslist.com. They have a "free" section because sometimes people just want to get rid of theirs. Look in the yellow pages for used appliance outlets. I've never bought new washer or dryer.. always used! And they've always been great!

I think those rent to own places are a rip off! Good luck!

I would send the rental back, and peruse the classifieds in your local newspaper. I am sure you can find an inexpensive set.

Renting just seems like a huge waste of money.

Our last W/D set we bought from the Salvation Army for $40 each. They ran like a charm for 5 years, and we left them behind when we moved. The Salvation Army is great for appliances! Everything is tested as well and condition disclosed. You just need a way to transport them. I also agree with checking the classifieds as people are always selling these.
