CC Companies doubling min. payments?
| Mon, 10-24-2005 - 10:37am |
I started thinking over the weekend about this. Has anyone seen their minimum payments go up yet? I'm really concerned over what will happen next year when this goes into effect. I pay extra on one card every month to help pay it off, but I don't have enough money to pay double payments on everything!
I'm wondering if I should call the cc companies now to find out what my min. payment will be and then try to negotiate with them? I'm not freaking out just yet, but it is on my mind...

I'm taking a wait and see approach.
All my best,

Mine are supposed to be going up with the December payment. I have MBNA for my card company. Unfortunately, that bill won't arrive until late November, so I'll have to wait and see how much it goes up. I've been trying to pay it off as much as possible before that bill to avoid having it go over what my budget allows, but I found out today that I might need to spend that money on dental and doctor visits. It's always something, isn't it? LOL!

I decided to call my cc company (CitiMastercard) and they are not raising the minimum payment - it will stay at 2.1% of the balance or $20/mth whichever is higher.
I wanted to know, but either way I have been paying a lot more than their minimums and up to now, I actually was paying my cc's in full until we decided to go to Disney World a couple weeks ago ;)
