This morning, I woke up thinking what a relaxing day it was going to be. Just homeschooling and an afternoon karate class. No surprises, no money needing to be spent. Just wonderful. A budget friendly day. :-D
Then I looked outside my front window and looked up and down the street, and admired my own yard with the leaves falling all over it.....and then I noticed....my mailbox was gone! LOL!! Not the whole post--that was still there, but the actual black mailbox was completely gone! LOL! Someone had unscrewed it (left the screws on the ground, kind souls that they were ;-D), and just took the box! Thankfully, I had no mail in it, and all my bills and important banking information go to a P.O. Box address anyway, so there's no danger of identity theft.
At first I thought, "Oh great! Now I have to rush out and get a new box!!", and then I just stood there looking at this empty post and the screws on the ground, and I just started laughing. Even neighbors walking their kids to school stopped and enjoyed a good laugh.
So I had to spend $12.00 that I hadn't planned on to get a new box, but I don't know....I think the $12 was worth the laugh that I had just thinking about someone standing outside at the curb and taking the time to unscrew every last screw (8 of them) holding my old box to the post. LOL!! :-D I give them credit for being dedicated, that's for sure! :-D
I called the sheriff's office, and they said they'd make a record of it, but they said there would be too many fingerprints on the post area anyway to even run prints. I told them it wasn't a big deal, I just wanted a record of it in case it happens again, and even they had to laugh at the image of a person standing there and unscrewing all those screws to get a plain black box. LOL! :-D
Pat :-D

thanks for the laugh. It is funny thinking how desparate that person must have been to unscrew and steal a mailbox.
