feeling good...

Hi everyone! I have taken on a second job as a substitute teacher, mainly because I just got my teaching certificate and it's the best way I know of to "get my foot in the door" and get closer to a full time teaching job. I am still also working at my part time job that I worked during college. The extra money is really helping me out...For the first two months I was playing catch up, just making sure things got paid and working on my first "target" card. I was able to pay that off last month and it was really nice to receive a statement saying that my balance was 0! It was my highest interest card also so I'm glad to be done with it. Today as I was looking over my bills and everything I decided to go back and figure out exactly how much money I have made this month (will make really, I mean all of November) and it totals out to be almost 900 dollars more than what I need for my bills. Of course this doesn't include gas, food, toiletries, etc, but it still means I have extra money to apply towards bills and paying down debt or to my Emergency Fund or my wedding fuund (something new I want to start, been with my bf 6 years and are not married bc we are poor! So I want to start saving so we have something, bc our parents can't help us at all!) So that makes me feel really good. I just made a payment to my second target cc, and the minimum payment was 17 dollars. I paid 70. It made me feel really good to do that! I also intend to pay off a doctor bill this month that I have been making small payments on for the last few months...I still owe 90 dollars but I think I can actually pay off the whole thing. Unfortunately the problem that I went to the Dr. about still hasn't been fixed so I have to see a gyno on Monday, and with no health insurance it will be expensive, but at least I am paying off one bill before making another...that's the best I can do medical wise I guess. Hopefully this doctor will fix the problem so I stop wasting money on exams and medications that aren't working!
Anyway, just wanted to share that I'm finally getting my head above water! Now as for my bf...well that's a different story...I'm tired of the nasty phone calls from collections for him! Hopefully this month I can have enough extra to help him a little, but he needs more help than I can give. Crossing my fingers for a miracle on his part. Next week he gets a commission check for 2500 dollars and he intends to pay off one of his credit cards that is in collections so that they get off his back and he has one less bill to worry about. I hope that works!
Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences on this board, it's really inspirational to me. I have been snowflaking and saving money the best I can by using the tips that everyone posts. It has really helped me...I lurk more than I post but I read every single new post on this board, it's an addiction for me, but it keeps me going in the quest to be debt free! And trust me, I have a looonnngggg way to go....

Congratulations on getting your certificate and finding a subbing job. That is a great way to get valuable experience, get your foot in the door and make money too. Things seem to really be looking up for you guys. Keep up the good work and you'll be paying cash for that wedding in no time!
