Thanksgiving plans? Donating to causes?

Hi, there. Just wondering what you all are doing for Thanksgiving. Are you going to relatives' house and eating, doing potlucks at work, staying home and cooking frugally, or eating out? I am cooking early this year (Monday of next week), due to relatives and work schedules. I do say, I am thankful for everything in spite of the bills and challenges, and am thankful to all of you for your continuing support and courage. Hey, Danni----I love that dog of yours getting into the holiday spirit. Do any of you donate time or money to "causes" this time of year, i.e., homeless shelters that serve thanksgiving meals, etc.? Donating to charities in lieu of gifts, etc.? Whiz.

We are so broke lately. Each paycheck is gone and not enough. Construction is killing us. We will be spending it at home with my parents. Not sure if my sister and her kids are coming. However, my mom and I will be cooking.
I'll have to charge what I need to buy for the meal. I'm pissed off about that. However, we just don't have money left.
Our savings is gone.
MYM
I'm spending Thanksgiving with my parents, which means that I won't have to pay anything for the meal. I just have to help cook it. :-)
As far as giving this year, up until last month I was a volunteer at Big Brothers Big Sisters which was really cool. I dropped out of the program because my Little was impossible to get in touch with. I'm hoping to join back up next July once I get moved, I'd hate to get attached to a Little and have to be rematched because of the move.
I don't have any money to give to charity this year though. I do plan on cleaning out my cubbards and donating a bunch of food to the food kitchen. I do that every year at this time. And I have a toy bought for Toys for Tots. At work we'll probably adopt a family and I pull $10 or so bucks into the pot for them. It reminds me to be grateful for everything I have. Even with all the bills and debt, I am still so much better off than many. I don't have to worry about where my next meal is coming from or how I'm going to pay the electric bill. It puts things sharply in prespective.
