I took the first step in my dept managment today... I had my appointment with Consumer Credit Counseling services. They were able to consolidate all but one of my credit cards, the only one they didn't was Cross Country Bank, or Applied Card Bank. They said they've had issues with them dropping their customers after a month. Anyone else have problems with them??!!
Since Applied Card/CCB is my biggest problem, I called them today to see if I could get my interest rate lowered from 29.99 percent. The lady said I qualified for their "Hardship" program, where they close the account for six months, drop the interest rate to 20.99 and you can make minimum payments of 55-60$/ mo. That works out alot better for me, I just don't want to get caught in a trap! That gives me six months to work extra hard to pay that card off with the lower interest rate. I've had nothing but problems with them since I opened the account!!
I kept one card off of my CCCS managment plan... one capital one card that I only use in extreme circumstances. My tire blew on the interstate... used my card, but then paid it off as soon as I got the bill. That way, I only use it when I know that I have the money to pay it off right away.
I also took on a second job. I know it's not alot, but I'm delivering the newspaper to my neighborhood in the mornings. Its extra cash, and hopefully that way I can pay off my Cross Country Card and get some savings going with my extra job.
I feel GREAT! I feel like I'm finally getting a handle on things... I'm not so scared anymore!!
I just don't want to think that everything is great and then go out and screw up again... and I'm bound and determined NOT to do that!!

Congratulations!!!
