Hi everyone! I just have a general question...no answers are needed if it's too personal.

What is everyone's monthly "outgoing" number? I'm including everything in mine, all debt and other expenses. I don't even own my own home yet!

Right now, mine is about $1900.

Man am I glad I don't live up North. I'm in KC, MO. There's also only myself and my two cats to provide for...oh and a gold fish.

Rent: $630
Renters Insurance: $16.00 (Annual of about $192)
Car Payment $413.22
Car Insurance $97.00
Student Loan: $90.33
Electric Bill: $59 (Level pay plan just went up $19 a month)
Gas: Between $15 & $60 monthly. (Just signed up for level pay plan.)
Phone: $15.80 (Cell phone plan, I work for the cell phone company so I get a great discount)
Gasoline: $60-$70 (varies but thankfully I live very close to work)
Property Tax (On Car): $20.50 (Just got the bill)
Licensing on Car: $2.50 (Also just got bill)
Netflix: $20.00
Cable/Internet: $90.00 (I just joined up with Netflix so I am planning on scaling way back on the cable package.)
Visa: $181.30 (Minimum payment)
Discover:$96.00 (Minimum Payment)
Master Card: $75 (I'm estimating here. Just had to put some car repairs on the card.)
Best Buy: $54 (Minimum Payment)
Emergency Fund Savings: $50.00
Groceries/Household/Pet/Misc. - $100 give or take (Some months I have less and just make due with what I have.)

Thankfully my father owns some cattle so I am able to have as much beef as I want without any cost and I shop Adli's alot. Plus my parents help out with my grocery expense, I am an only child so that helps a lot. I'll be really glad when July get's here and I can get moved back in with them. That will have expenses dropping like a rock.

Total of $2086.65(If I hit the high side of everything. Thankfully most months I don't.) It's no wonder though why I always feel like I'm broke.

Anything left over get's sent to credit cards.

I'm so glad everyone responded. I live in Virginia and most of my monthly amount goes to student loans (horrendous interest rate!!!!) and my car and other stupid debt. I'm working on my finances though and hope to be able to better manage myself soon. :)

angelpie41,

Just think of how much better your finances will be this time next year! Your balances might not disappear completely, but they will definitely be less if you stick to your budget or whatever system you are using. Focus on the positives! :-D These next 12 months will pass fast.

This time last year, I was miserable due to my debt load and the secrets I was keeping from my husband. I just wanted to run away and hide, as if that would actually make things better. I stuck with it, and although I do still have $8000 in debt, it's a lot better than the 33K I had this time last year! LOL!!

Enjoy watching those balances go down each month! :-D

Pat :-D

Wow, it took me a long time to read all of these! ~ on my slow dial-up service ;(

Well here are my average monthly numbers: (BTW~ Family of 4, live near Pittsburgh, PA, $70K per year)

Mortgage includes prop. taxes/insurance: $480
SUV loan: $320 ~taken out of DH's check so I don't see it
Student Loan mine: $89
Student Loan DH: $105
Dish Satellite: $56
Car Insurance on 3 cars (2 are paid off~ beater truck for dh work in winter, and beater car for good gas milegage): $140
Phone: $30
Electric: never been higher than $70 in Jan. because of Christmas lights but usually $40
Internet: $14
2 Cell Phones: $65
Water/sewage/garbage: $70
Gas: $80
Life insurance: $47
401K: $100
Food: $480 includes paper stuff/laundry
Christmas fund: $100
Gas(cars): $200
Fun: $200
DH's allowance: $180
Clothes: $80
Local Income Tax: $33
Health Copays/Prescriptions(Dh has a great health plan): $5
Savings for new house: $1000-$1200
Getting camp ready/repairs and closing: $10

For a grand total of $4124 per month. This does include my savings because I treat that as a bill. Dh's extra pays are used for school clothes and the kid's birthdays. When emergencies pop up (car repairs/registrations)I use what's left from my tip money or my savings fund money. My mortgage will likely go up around $400 when we move ~~we live in town now which makes the houses much cheaper. I think that's about it!

I think it's wonderful for the poster that is helping her son through college. ( I am also a waitress :))Although it is inevitable that my kids will have to take out student loans (like most) I would like to start saving SOMETHING for them again. (We lost $1200 in a college fund through Primerica for my daughterand I have a bad taste in my mouth) But I also think it is very important for us to have a solid retirement fund ~ you can't take out loans for that as Suze Orman says!! Once my SUV is paid off I will put that money in the 401K. I noticed that poster had that in place as well($800/month great!!!)

I just wondered about the amazing annual car expenses- she said they were paid off I think- but the costs were over $10K a year? I don't want to go through all of the posts again to find it- but if you could explain~~~ thanks!!

Nicki
