Thanksgiving morning

Yesterday I called my uncle and told him I couldn't afford the fancy Thanksgiving buffet I had treated him to in the past. I said we could still go if he really wanted to, but he would have to pay for his own dinner. I told him it was $50, and he immediately said he'd rather go cheaper, so I'm happy! (I have to buy him a birthday dinner in 2 weeks anyway....) I'm still going to ask him to pay for his own dinner. (I am learning my lessons.)
I am enjoying time to myself....being away from work...enjoying what I already have, thinking of things I am thankful for!!!! Part of my day will be spent trying to do a little organizing and getting ready for an event tomorrow.
I have the newspaper with all the ads, but I'm not planning on shopping for gifts tomorrow. I may go out for a couple things for myself later, but it will be for things I needed.
Really, I just have to get thru today. Going out with my uncle is tiresome because he is a difficult personality for me to deal with. There's no one else in the family to take him out for the holidays, so I am always stuck with him....I try to be patient, but it's tough......He remembers me being 9 years old, and now in my advanced years, he still wants me to be 9 years old AND be a replacement for his mother.....it gets to be a bit much. He also has poor social skills, so it's hard taking him anywhere anyway.....We used to have family dinners at a cousin's house, but that isn't happening anymore.....she lost her house and has debt problems. We agreed to keep dear uncle away from her husband who has been hitting up family for money....
HOWEVER, I am hoping the cheaper dinner out will work out. Nice to pay cash this year.
Happy Thanksgiving!!! Littlesbigs
