The most useless thing you want to buy..

What is the most useless thing (or things) you find yourself wanting to buy at this time of year?
For me it's makeup. Every year it's the same thing - I see all the ads for the new Holiday edition cosmetics that come out, and I find myself wanting all that stupid glam and glitter stuff. LOL. Then I have to tell myself that no matter how hard I try, I will NOT get my eyes to look the same way they do on the model, and even if I could... where am I going to wear that kind of stuff anyway? All the Christmas parties I go to?? (ie: ZERO??) LOL...
At least I've learned to control myself... 5 years ago I would have bought some for sure. Heck, maybe even 1 year ago. :)

Usually, I would say "Christmas dinnerware items", but this year, with my spirits lifted since last Thanksgiving, I brought all of that dinnerware out, my parents' silver that they'd given to me, etc. Really had a fancy looking table this year. :-D
I do have impulses to buy cute ornaments for the tree, but I just keep reminding myself that I have enough, and if I need more, I can get them in a big box at the dollar store. :-D
Pat :-D
Well, I don't usually want useless stuff (I've been accused of being practical to a fault--all I want for Christmas is mulch for my garden! LOL). But I have to admit that the bargain hunter in me was *almost* tempted out of my house by the Black Friday ads. I actually thought, for about five seconds, about buying $50 worth of Victoria's Secret panties (I *do* need new underwear, after all! LOL) just so I could get the "free" glam handbag (I have three great handbags but only one I actually use--too much trouble to switch back and forth) stuffed full of free cosmetics (I don't wear make-up). LOLOLOL
It's amazing how well the advertising works. Even when I'm aware of what it's doing to me, it still gets me sometimes.
We're declaring tomorrow "Buy Nothing Day." Today, we started a new Thanksgiving tradition--we cleaned out the playroom and picked out LOTS of toys to give away to friends. Tomorrow, the kids and I are starting a new "Black Friday" tradition--we'll be making crafts to put in our Christmas gift baskets. This year, we're collecting pine cones and making pine cone birdfeeders.
Black Friday, from now on, is not about the retailers finally getting "in the black." It's about our family STAYING in the black. :)
So, no, I'm actually not tempted by useless stuff. But only because I've been on this journey toward debt-free too long to be tempted to part with my money without a big fight. :)

Well I'm not tempted by much this year. But then putting myself in the mode that it's Christmas which means only other people get bought for helps, now if I can just keep that attitude up after Christmas.
That being said, I would really like some more Christmas tree ornaments. I really don't have enough for my tree but I'm sure not going to buy them before Christmas, not will all the after Christmas sales coming. Plus my mother has offered up all her spares to fill in the tree, which I am going to take her up on.
The other big money suck is all the food such, but again I'm going to be strong this year. I've bought a box of candy canes to hang on the tree and have budgeted for one more box of candy then no more.
An Ipod.
And I have 2 already. And I don't even use them that much.
I think I'm going to avoid all shops until end of January (yes, because in January, sales are on, so it's a critical month as well!)
I would like a Kitchen Aid mixer. I know it wouldn't be useless but I have absolutely no room for it and $250 is just a little to much to spend.
