We just switched from Cingular to Verizon Wireless at the end of November, and when we enrolled online, we were told our cell bill would be $101.00. This is for a family plan where DH and I both have phones, and he also uses his for business, so we needed a lot of minutes.
Imagine our surprise when we got our first bill today, and it's for $219!!! Talk about shock! It turns out, they pro-rated our November amount, which is what we expected, added our $60 start-up fee, which we knew about it, and then billed for December too!! The month we just started!
Dh called, and they gave him some sort of story about how they bill a month in advance "in case people cancel service and try to avoid paying their last bill". If this service wasn't so much better than Cingular's, I think I'd be even angrier.
I just wish they said something up front so I could budget for this double billing. Tonight, I've got to crunch the numbers and see whether I can go over to our local verizon office tomorrow and pay the bill....or whether we'll have to wait until next paycheck.
Just irks me. LOL!

Pat, HUGS! That is so incredibly crummy! Check with them, and find out what the minimum amount you HAVE to pay this month.... I have done that with my telephone bill before. There are SOME charges that you will not be considered "late" if you don't pay right away. Never hurts to ask!!!

Last night, I took a look at our budget, and I found wiggle room for the extra amount we weren't expecting. It took some doing, and things will be a little tighter, but at least the bill will be paid. LOL! I was up until 1am trying to figure out how to pay this bill, but once I saw on paper how it could be done, I was able to fall into a sound sleep.
So today, I'm off to the Verizon store to pay this bill and put it behind me. :-)
