One of the great joys of the winter....watching a Christmas movie with my family while eat grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup. Inexpensive, but we all really enjoy it!!!

Any other cheap ideas to enjoy the winter / holidays with your family??

For the price of gas, you could go out to look at Christmas lights in the evenings. We let Ds ride around with his Pajamas and slippers on so he'll feel more cozy. We play Chirstmas music on the radio, and then we just drive all around.

When he was younger, we would bundle him up really well and put him into his wagon. Then we'd take a stroll around our neighborhood after dark to look at the lights that way.

Something that my son really enjoys this year (he's 7), is to hear holiday stories from when we were younger. He wants to know about our favorite Christmases, what our favorite toys were, what kinds of surprises we had, whether we ever got toys that didn't work quite right, and he especially loves any funny stories that we can remember. So just curling up under a blanket and talking is something we enjoy doing also. :-D

I like to break out the candy molds and buy a couple of bags of chocolate and make Christmas tree chocolates. The kids love it, down to tying little ribboms on the candy bags. Cheap, fun, and occupies a couple of hours : )

I don't have little ones running around any more, but I did treat myself to the Polar Express Movie this year.(it was one of my black Friday purchases :) Then DH & I sat and watched it together one cold evening, it was such a cute movie & has a wonderful Christmas feel to it. I also have the original Grinch cartoon & I usually watch it once during the Christmas season.

Enjoy the Holidays & slowing down to enjoy your children & make traditions! They grow up so fast!!

I make a big pot of chicken soup and a big pot of beef stew. Its very inexpensive and feeds the fam for a long time. I refrigerate and freeze all leftovers into portion sizes. Theres nothing like hot soup when it's snowing out!! I also let my kids to inexpensive crafts and we read together. :) Iris
