Rule of four (?)
| Thu, 12-08-2005 - 7:26pm |
A while back someone mentioned a rule of four when buying gifts for young children. It was "Something to wear, something to use, something to play with, and something to ___". Can someone fill in the blank for me? I love the idea, and can't remember the fourth thing!
Thanks!

Actually, Heather,
I liked it too...I don't remmber who posted it, but it was
Somthing they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read!!
(and in our case, something from Santa :0 )
Heather
Heather,
There are 2 different versions of the rhyme. It was popular in the 1800's.
Something they want, something they need;
Something to play with, to eat, and to read.
Something they want, something they need;
Something to play with,
Oh, thank you, both of you! I love the bit about something to eat, too. We already have a tradition where we eat exotic foods on Christmas Eve, and have exotic foods in our stockings. We started this because we try to eat locally for environmental and budgetary reasons, but we all really love almonds and kumquats and asian persimmons. So on Christmas Eve, we get to gorge ourselves on all those delightful things (and coconuts and pineapples and mangoes and avacados and so on... yum!), without the guilt.
Thanks so much!
Heather
