I was homeschooling my son this morning, and we had the radio on, which was playing Christmas songs. One song really caught me by surprise. I don't remember ever hearing it before, but that could be because I've just never really paid attention (too stressed over debt, I guess, in past years). The song was "Count your blessings instead of Sheep" by Irving Berlin. The lyrics really made me smile:
When I'm worried and I can't sleep
I count my blessings instead of sheep
And I fall asleep
Counting my blessings
When my bankroll is getting small
I think of when I had none at all
And I fall asleep
Counting my blessings
I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds
If you're worried and you can't sleep
Just count your blessings instead of sheep
And you'll fall asleep
Counting your blessings
---------------------
That one song just put everything in perspective for me. Sure, my bankroll is a little small for comfort, but it's sure a lot bigger than it was last year. And the thought of my sweet son's head laying on his pillow at night, looking like an angel (despite testing my patience throughout the day :-D) is truly a blessing.
So tonight....let's all count our blessings instead of sheep...or bills ;-D

I have been very stressed out about our debt and the new house. For the past week or so, I have not been able to fall asleep.
However, i'm trying not to worry about all that. Instead concentrate of my kids. So many lives have been lost this year.
