Hi, all. Becky, I can empathize with your recent post. It seems we need more $$$$ to pay things off, but if we get more $$, the temptation is to spend it, someway. Case in point: l) Charged a lot on the cc. Why? Well, the medical bills had to get paid somehow, even if the insurance company has stalled for months. I have set up a payment plan of $200-$300/month to get them paid off, but I had to put something initially on the cc, per the companies, as a "good faith" gesture. It was that, or see the medical bills go to default. 2) No raises this year. No COL, no raises for good job performance, etc. Sooo-am going to cut back more, and start looking for second job. That is my plan of action. Whiz.

Hey Whiz - 2nd job sounds like it may be the way to go - as long as it's just for debt reduction and not for living money.

All my best,
Danni

I think that Christmas can exasperate the bummed out feeling as well. Everyone around you is spending money, and we on this board are worried about paying our bills!

Things are get more expensive, yet many of us find our salaries are not rising as fast. I found out just the other day my condo fees are going up by $30 a month next year. I just trimmed down my cell phone plan, and the $30 I thought I could put in savings is now going to pay the extra condo fee. That's an extra $360 a year I am paying, and my fees are now $225 a month. Found out the sewage and water which are covered are going up in my city next year. There were more claims on the insurance etc.

I have yet to see how much my mortgage will be next year. I am sure I will be paying more to ESCROW.

I hope you are able to resolve your medical bills. I think it's great that you are taking responsibility for them.

Have a wonderful Christmas.

HI, Danni. So good to hear from you. Thanks for the insight, as always. Yes, I think the New Year is a way to get started on things. The one item that is monsterous is the mortgage! I hope to pay one or two extra payments each yr. The second job thing is going to be for debt reduction. I did have a second job for a long time, but didnt really use it for debt reduction, per se. I also want to look at how the $$$ is spread out on the accounts: IRA, 401K 457B, mutual funds, etc., and get more educated on this. Have a great NY, and thanks for your wisdom. Whiz.

HI, ATB. You are right--it seems that things are going up, especially the little things you dont really think of. $30 here. $50 there. But, if there are ways to see where the spending is a bit frivolous, then I think cutting back will be less painless. Whiz.
