This New Year versus last year...how do you compare?

  • I'm improving! Debt going down!
  • 2005 threw me for a loop...I need to get back on track.
  • I'm just getting my financial life in order in 2006.
  • I have some major obstacles to get through in 2006.
  • I think things will finally come together for me in 2006--hoping for progress.
  • I should become debt free in 2006!
  • I'm already debt free!
  • My only debt is my mortgage!
  • Things are really bad right now--not sure how I'll make it.
  • Other--feel free to explain!

I figure this year, this year I'm way ahead of where I was last year. I'm probably in more debt but at least I know where I stand. Last year, I hadn't even started thinking about it. Hopefully by this time next year, I'll have paid a lot of the debt down.

In the overall aspects of things - I think we are on the *very* slow climb up instead of drowning, compared to the last couple years.

2003 - stunk - since everything hit the fan

2004 - we were drowning just trying to survive

2005 - still just trying to survive but it *felt* a little more - secure - that's the word (not that anything is secure) but not waiting so much for the other shoe to drop type of feeling.

I voted major obstacle for 2006. I may or may not have a job in the next few weeks. Considering a possible relocation to a higher cost of living area so I will just have to wait and see what happens.

If I dont' have a job, I will at least get 3 months of severence pay, a lump payment of my vacation time and I have money in the savings.

If I do have a job - then things will look great for 2006 and I plan on paying down debt and increasing the savings, becasue I do know that eventually my job will move to a higher cost of living area and I need to be prepared.

This year has been a great year...

1. Got serious about our debt & started a budget.
2. Paid down our credit cards for almost $17k in June to $8900 today!
3. Paid cash for our vacation to Mexico this past June.
4. Had a totally cash Christmas & our debt still went down!
5. We started an emergency fund!

2006 Is going to be an even better year I am sure.

Hoping to have the remaining cc debt gone by Sept!

I think that I finally understand how muc money I need to live on. NOthing extravagant just to live. Now that I have a handle on that amount I should be debt free by December 2006. Yeah me!!!!!
