Holiday gift?

What was your favorite holiday gift? Who gave it to you...did you give it to yourself? Why did you like it? Was it something you wanted or needed? Did it have anything to do with your debt reduxtion journey?
OR........
Did you get something awful for the holiday? Who gave it to you...or was it something you did to yourself? Why was it bad? Did it mess up your debt reduction process?
Thanks for sharing!

Let's see the best things I got was money (i.e. cash & gift card).

ROFL! You could maybe use it in place of Mace? Or as a punishment? "If you don't knock it off, I'm going to spray you with that perfume!!!!" "Don't make me pull out the spritzer!"
How much fun could you have with that? LOL (I know you missed all my 'hep-ful' suggestions, huh? ROFL)
Try using some Isopropyl Alcohol on your wrist. I know that it helps to neutralize perfume when too much is used. When I worked in retail (in a time long ago and a galaxy far away), I worked in the perfume department, and we always had a jumbo bottle of it behind the counter for the people who thought that they needed to marinate themselves and other innocent bystanders in whatever they were trying on.

I didn't have any gifts where I was just overjoyed or it was something I had always wanted and someone got it for me. I received several movies that I like, some Tupperware, an electric griddle, some scrapbook supplies. The most unusual was my brother works with a guy who does photography. My brother enlarged and framed one of the friend's photographs of a meadow at sunrise-I love it.
The worst is I asked for an Eeyore shirt from the disney catalog because I have few long sleeved shirts and my DH got me a 1 size fits all nightshirt instead. I'm petite-a little over 5 foot 1 inch and one size doesn't fit all! Not to mention our bedroom runs around 50-55 degrees (it's the coldest room in the house) so this isn't working as well as my flannel jammies and warm socks!

I had a bunch of 'favorites' this year...
My in-laws gave me a $60 gift card to a gas station. With that neat-o commute to school, I really wanted one. My DMIL didn't think it was personal enough, but I absolutely LOVED it!
My DH got me a 17" flat panel monitor, which freed up most of my desk. I'll actually be doing homework at my desk from now on! How cool!
My best friend got me gift certificates to Barnes and Noble & Dairy Queen. Both are history!
I'm glad Christmas is over now, though. We way overspent.

All my best,

My best gift was a purple nightgown that my husband bought for me. It's one of those plush, warm, oversized nightgowns with a zipper all the way down the front, so it's the type of nightgown you can lounge in on cold winter days. I love it!
My worst gift was from my Mother-in-Law. The gift tag said, "To Pat. From Inlaws". Nice and personal, and inside, there was an old shredded, faded hand towel, wrapped around a broken light-up Gingerbread House. Big holes were broken out of it and the light was broken, and my Dh said he remembered seeing it at his Mom's house in years past, and he remembers it being broken. He even remembers his Mom saying she needed to get rid of it, so we know it didn't get broken in shipment. She bought my son lots of toys, and my husband lots of clothes, but I got the broken gingerbread house and the old ratty hand towel. LOL! My feelings were hurt by it on Christmas morning, but I can actually see the humor in it now. My MIL isn't exactly the nicest woman in the world, so this is typical of her. :-D
Pat :-D
Best gift: Season 1 of Party of Five. I had wanted it...I started watching it when I was on maternity leave 10 years ago (but missed the first couple of seasons), and i can't say its the kind of show that I would sit down and watch today if it was on TV, but it is definitely cool to sit down and chill like I did when life was so much simpler~!!
Worst gift? I had a couple of those...two pairs of earrings...one pair had one round and one square (I was like ..hey, these don't match!!! LOL!!!), the other pair, the stone fell out of the setting BEFORE I even got to wear it!! Both of these were from my dh, and i laugh about it because when he buys (finances) expensive jewelry, like the certified diamonds set in platinum he got me 2 Christmases ago, or the $800 sapphire pendant he bought me four years ago, i make him return them, which i know isn't very nice, but I can't handle owning jewelry more valuable than my entire wardrobe (not counting my wedding band, LOL!!) I really appreciate the gesture, so I should probably keep some of the nice things he buys for me, but I don't have anywhere to wear them!! So anyway, he knows I like things cheap, but geez...
Oh, and my inlaws still, after ten years of being unsuccessful, try to buy me clothes (I am 4'11" and 95 pounds..I do not fit into a ladies size small!!! XS petite? size 14 girls? maybe. Ladies small...no way!!! i look like Im swimming in it.
I am ready to pack everything up, and I will be so happy when it is OVER and done with.
Heather
Dear Pat,
That's just AWFUL! But, I know what you're saying about finding the humor in it...I've been the recipient of some awful gifts as well in the past....When we write our memoirs, our readers will be LOL thru those parts!
