I've been mulling this question over in my mind since I read it the other day. It made me feel really good. A year ago (even less), $15 could have been cut by returning movies on time, by not bouncing a check, by grocery shopping and bringing competitor's circulars with me, by paying my cell phone ontime.
All those things are now done. After thinking about it, I've increased our income by about $30 a month by doing those things.
So for today, where would it come from? Probably groceries. And school lunches, I should send lunch with them more often. Ideally, they are supposed to buy lunch 2x a week and bring 3. But I get lazy. I could not go to the dollar store. I'm being fanatical about tracking my minutes on my cell phone (different plan than last year). Skip renting movies (I only do this about every three weeks though...and if you go right before closing, all movies are 50cents and most are due in 5-7 days, so I'd save $5 on the 10 I usually rent).
H doesn't like to bring lunch from home, and he gets $20 for weekly lunches, BUT he can also charge lunch at the cafeteria out of his paycheck, which usually ends up being about $50 a month. We have so many financial issues though, it's really not worth fighting about.
It's a Girl!
Wow - I totally hear you on the whole returning videos on time.
All my best,
Danni
