I don't know the program, but there is a segment on a local morning show that does something similar. At the begining of the week, the "grocery guru" is on this show with the specials for Alberson's this week. He uses the weekly specials, combined with coupons from the sunday paper, to plan meals. Then they pick a viewer each week to go shopping with him, I guess he has a "class".
It's supposed to be economical and efficient. but, I haven't done it!
There is a woman on Shoestring budgeting who has done this and really likes it. She provided some great examples of items she had bought. I have a lot of dietary issues in my family (1 vegetarian, 1 no cheese, limited dairy, no bananas, no applesauce, no white rice, half WW flour for all baking) so I didn't think it would work as well for us since few coupons do. You can do a trial for 1 month for a $1 so it would probably be worth trying to see what you think. There is also a free program called cuttingouthunger (might be cuttingoutthehunger) that does the same type of thing but instead of payment they ask that you donate free or close to free items your family won't use to a food bank. They have a more limited area right now.
