Debt boards for men?

I know men are welcome on this board, but it doesn't seem like they tend to stick around much. Do you think a lot of men are uncomfortable with the fact that this is mostly women here?

I have a friend who really needs something like this, and I want to recommend this board to him, but I strongly suspect he's not going to be "into" a board mostly for women.

Anyone know of boards anything like this one either strictly for men or where there are lots of men participating? I know there's nothing quite EXACTLY like this board, because this is the best board on the planet, but something close will do.

Thanks!

Hi Heather,
I know what you mean about no men really on this board. I did look at the board that supports the Dave Ramsey ideas: http://www.livinglikenooneelse.com and it seemed like there was a mixture of men and women. Not like this board however, this board has a very supportive, human feel to it. You feel welcome here. More like a community. But the people there do also answer back and forth. Just not the same.

Hi Heather - I know that there are lots of men on the msn moneycentral boards - but they're waaaay more no-nonsense.

All my best,

I wandered around the motleyfool.com's message boards, which didn't really appeal to me, but they did seem to have a more even mix of men and women, and a kind of community feel on some of the boards. They're UK based, so not everything is the same.

My other favorite forum has a good mix of men & women. www.livinglikenooneelse.com

Huh? I thought I had responded to this already.

At any rate, I visited that site, living like no one else. Honestly, the posters there are very into Dave's method and are not ok with straying from the path at all. The responses to people there are a little inimidating in my opinion. But then I maybe a little sensative(I really can't spell tonight.).

I posted once there and got some good advice but at that point I had already discovered this site and like it much better. You all are a lot more supportive than they are with a slower plan for getting out of debt.

At any rate, it is a good site for someone with thicker skin than mine.

Well the other site is definately tougher! Buts its also about accountability and getting someone on target & keeping them there. I hang out on both sites, but I also follow Dave Ramsey's program. I have found his program to have the most structure to assist me in my pursuit of getting out of debt.

I tried my way for a few years, now I am trying his way. And I have to admit that I have paid my debts down from $17k in June to $8900 currently. SO I think I will stick to his way for awhile.

Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! I think I'm going to point him toward the Dave Ramsey site. I agree with the posters who like the friendly, forgiving environment here, but I think the Ramsey site might be just what he needs.

I think there is a place for both approaches.

Thanks for all the links!
