Well, folks, I bought me a new freezer today. According to our consumer-watch it got rated with a b (good) and an a+ in energy efficency. I thought about it yesterday. We went to the store, cause we needed meat. We go to the store every 2 or 3 days, cause we need meat and we spend 15, 20 or more Euros. Yesterday it was 35. Okay, meat and coffee is expensive, but really, not haveing a freezer is a waste of money. I should get it in about 2 weeks and then I can fill it up with on-sale items, meat that is on sale, frozen veggies etc. and it will be a lot cheaper than having to go to the store every other day, cause we will only go once a week then. IF necessary, cause you can freeze bread, lunch-meat and grated cheese too. I got a bigger freezer (more like for a family of 4 not 2) because I thought I can freeze more in it. It won't be full so quick and it is easier to separate the food into the respective categories, cause you have more compartments.

anyway, just thought I'd tell you. Oh, almost forgot. The consumer group said it cost 450,00 but I ordered it for 429,95 but with deliver it cost 449,00 but still, I saved 20 bucks. That's 4 Kilos of meat, depending on what you get. LOL

Congrats on the freezer. In addition to saving money you'll probably save time to not going to the store everyday

Good job on the freezer purchase. I agree you can get quite more organized & plan ahead & stock up on food when it is on sale. We just purchased a half of a beef, it cost $562, but should last us the entire year. There are only two of us so it goes quite a ways. I do purchase sausage & chicken once in a while (we aren't big chicken eaters). Good luck & here is to a smaller grocery bill!!

A freezer is a good investment. Dh and I bought one about three years ago as a joint Christmas gift, and we love ours. After the holidays, we purchase turkey and ham when the prices drop, and we enjoy them later or cook them for guests. My son loves frozen pizza, so I wait for sales and stock up on those too. It's great for sales on frozen vegetables also. My local store sometimes has a 10 for $10 sale, so I stock up and fill my freezer. :-D

To make your freezer work more efficiently...fill it up with empty soda/milk bottles full of water until you get it full of food. My fil and bil are both HVAC specialists and recommended this to us. It seems to work pretty well. Also...be sure to wrap things in freezer bags so they don't get freezer burn. Nothing pisses me off more than having to throw away food.

Happy freezing...Stacey
