Do any of you use software to help manage your money or to see where it all goes. Is it worth the money? Which program do you recommend?

TIA

I recently started using Microsoft Money 2006. It took me some time to figure it out but now I have it pretty much set up and I really like it. If you are interested you can get a 3 month free trial download (that's what I'm using right now) to try it out. Just do a search for it and see if you can find it, I'm not sure what the website is. I really like it though because it allows me to view reports on my spending and keep track of certain categories of spending, etc...it's just neat overall. It takes a while to figure it out though!

I currently use Quicken and love it. I like being able to see where my money goes. It's really user friendly. I've also used Money before and like the above post says, it takes a while to figure out how to use it. I didn't have the patience which is why I switched to Quicken.

I don't know how difficult it is to set up (DH did that many years ago) but I use quicken and absolutely love it. I am somewhat obsessed with it. I use it everyday. The only caveat to using any kind of tracking software is you must input your expenses everyday (or every time you spend money) or it won't do you any good. For example say you took $20 out of the ATM. If you don't input where that $20 went that day, a few days later all you will know is you spent $20. I am testament to the fact you won't remember where you spent it.

Quicken is so good, I can't even remember how to reconcile my checkbook with pen and paper anymore. Quicken does it all for me.

I use Quicken 2006. I really enjoy using it. My husband set all the accounts up for us, and I just input any transactions made and reconcile it with the online data from our banks/Etrade/etc. I used Money 97 in the past, and I didn't like that program much at all.
