will ING rates go up?

Just wondering, I have noticed that a few other online banks such as Emigrant and HSBC (or whatever the heck letter it is, lol) have jumped their rates up to 4.25%. ING is still holding at 3.80% but they have a promotion going for the next few months that new deposits will earn 4.75%. As much as I love my ING account, I find myself envious of the slightly higher rates. Do you think ING will bump up the APY soon to match the competitors? Any thoughts on this?

Hello Aerandel,

I have noticed that Ing Direct has bumped up their rates every 6 months for the last two years, so I have no doubt that they will soon be catching up to the competition.

IMHO, I think they will go up too. Their Winter Savings rate is pretty good, 4.75% APY on all new deposits until April 15th. My local bank is paying .50% (yep, one half of one percent) I took advantage and made a transfer last night!!! I like the fact that ING is having specials for Existing customer. A lot of times the fine print on "specials" are for new Customers only.
