Hi,
I see that some folks have more than one ING account for various things -- insurance, etc.
I have a small one that we are trying to get to $1000.00 for the emergency fund. My question is: if you open more ING accounts, do they give you the $25.00 credit for each account??????
It would be nice if they did.

It would be nice, but no you get the $25 for the first account that you open. Now you can get $10 for any people that you refer that open an account with $250.

Hello,

Unfortunately, the $25 bonus only applies to the first new savings account you open with them. I had one main account and added several more so that I wouldn't have to divide up the money for each category on a spreadsheet. If the money is all in one account, it's easy to use it up on expenses that are needed at the time (car repairs, roof repair deductible, medical bill) and then not have enough for the upcoming expected expenses I originally saved for.

Anyway, having separate accounts for Christmas 2006, Italy Trip, Auto Insurance, Auto Maintenance, and House Maintenance (I gave the accounts those nicknames in Ing, which is handy!) now I can tell how much each account has. We have a total of $91 pulled from our checking account and divided up between these accounts, along with an emergency fund savings account that is attached to my checking account. The emergency fund will be used for those unexpected, unplanned expenses (since I can transfer funds immediately and not wait 2-3 days). Hopefully I can keep those freedom accounts full (while using them for the appropriate expenses).

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke

Unfortunately no.. But if your DH isn't on the account with you, you can get $10 for referring him and he can get the $25 for a new account.. Just something to consider.

Hi Megan,
I have an ING savings account and I noticed last night that all NEW deposits from 1/19-4/15 has an APY of 4.75%. You don't have to open a NEW account but you get a higher rate of interest. I think this is great. My local bank is paying .50% APY on thier savings account. Yikes. I made a transfer last night to take advantage of it.
