I am so confused about this

I had a Capitol One card that we used for an emergency... a legit emergency. Only dh lost his job shortly after the emergency and we couldn't pay off the card. Months later it was turned over to a collections agency. I told them I would pay $25 bi-weekly or $50 a month. Well, I kind of messed up and posted them in my file for EFT. WELL, I caught the mistake when my account seemed too high and I called and talked to someone about paying it up to date ($225). They were like "Sure that'll be fine" and then said she didn't know if they could take my payment since they had a garnishment of wages on me. News to me! I work PRN (as needed) in a nursing home. I can tell you the days I have worked since Oct 24th. That would be Dec 25th and Jan 1st. I don't have a check to garnish and that wasn't the agreement anyway. So I called work and they have no knowledge of this. so I called back and they still won't accept my payment. They will hold it until they can get ahold of the court in my county and see what was done with the garnishment of wages. Said I should have got a letter, etc (which I didn't). This all just seemed a bit funny to me. I paid the $225 and got a receipt but what do I do if they don't take my payment? I don't have a paycheck to speak of. If it considered paid in full if they refuse my payment?
