WOW That is neat! :) It really starts to open your eyes when you have a goal.. now you'll find yourself scanning the ground when you walk looking for change to add to your fund! :)

I took my change in yesterday and I had about $65!! I was so excited. I opened up an ING acct for DH and started a Disney Fund for when we go on our cruise in October! Hoping to be debt free by then!! We'll see! That will be a nice celebration,

THe spare change thing is AWESOME. I emptied the jar this morning and am able to pay for my 5 year old sons entire birthday party (today!).

We save ALL our spare change in one jar and Im thrilled everytime we cash it in.

don't forget that if you use a coinstar they charge some hefty fees for getting cash back (something like 8%). You can get around that by opting for a gift certificate instead!

we save all of our change in a jar and manage to save up about $50 every couple of months without even noticing that the money is gone. it feels like we are getting free money.

Hello,

I have been dumping change in my jar for 2 months. I counted just the quarters in the jar (easier to pick out and count) and found I had $20 just in quarters. I guess it's time to deposit them in the bank soon! I need a smaller jar. I'm using a huge pickle jar we got from Sam's club. It's about 10% full and already has more than $20 in it!

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke

Hi, Danni--Consolidating jars of change is a daunting task. There are bowls, change jars, boxes, water jugs, etc. Everywhere---dresser, laundry room, car, spare room, etc. I'm saving for improvements when relatives come---curtains and a new yard and garage door would be a start. France? Lucky you. Maybe I should start one for Hawaii! If I put it in a savings account, it will be spent, so I am just leaving it alone. Whiz.

Many banks and credit unions will count your change up to $100 a day for free if you have an account. It is convenient that you are already standing in the bank so it can be deposited directly into savings.

LOL! I can just imagine lugging my huge pickle jar into the bank, hefting it on to the counter and asking if they would count it for me. =)

Our credit union has a change counting machine that members can use for free. My dh has a business account at TCF Bank (I think they're in several states) and they also have a machine that is fee-free to account holders. :-)
