Only $500 short for my bills!

How does this happen to me every month? Probably how it happens to a lot of us every month, but I am short for all of my bills!

I had worked out my bills a couple of weeks ago, and I saw I was short by about $30. Thanks to a little bit of my own spending and of course the unexpected larger expense (in my case a new tire for my car), and the fact in that equation I had not included any living expenses (food, gas etc) I am now a couple of weeks later $500 short for my bills. And I make decent money!!!! This is what kills me!!! And then I still won't have any living expenses.

So now I will have to 'borrow' from myself. I have money in savings, more than enough to cover the shortfall, but that is money earmarked for my tooth and I have to have it back in there by the end of February.

So this is what I will end up having to do. Keep my spending tight for the next couple of weeks, which could be tough because my mum is due in this month from England. She's wanting to do beauty days and a trip to DC. I know she pays for a lot of it, but I still need food and stuff in the house.

I will have to take the money out of savings to cover my expenses and then just hope and pray I have a tax refund of some kind. I will see my accountant on Monday. I have a lot of medical, and a lot of mortgage tax so I just pray I get just $1000 back.

I had a dream that this money would be divided into 3. Savings, debt and fun. Now I will need to use it for living - it sucks!!!!!!!! That's if I get anything back.

Next month my commission will be low. January had been a slow month, plus a number of placements haven't happened so that money hasn't come. I have some big orders that if we can fill them would help me out tremendously.

I keep everything in my check book. I really don't live an expensive lifestyle that'we what gets to me.

Sorry that I am always venting about this, but I work hard to create a budget, keep an eye on my finances, save money, invest money for the future, pay all of my bills on time and every month no matter how much I make the bigger the bills seem. I clip coupons, look for deals. I don't take holidays. I don't shop a lot because the $$$ isn't there.

I also need to take my cat for vaccines and the $$$ just isn't there. My BF has been a rock this week, getting me dinner and just being a star.

Thanks for the vent. It just kills me to take money from savings especially when I just started my first real efund. Mind you every month is an emergency!

hang in there, girl. At least you have in savings to cover for it now. Believe me....I know it gets tiring.

Hello,

I know it's tough, but try to account for your living expenses next time you create a budget. If I forget food expenses, I'm always a little surprised at how much we've spent. I haven't been late on any bills for a few years, but I still understand the struggle. When I pay the bills some months and see $50 left for the next two weeks of food. It's rather disheartening to take money from the emergency fund just to eat!

Since my husband is on a low-carb diet, eating eggs for breakfast, ramen noodles for lunch, and peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches for dinner won't work. The breakfast would be ok, but not lunch & dinner. I'm tempted to stop a local soup kitchen and volunteer to help serve a meal. Volunteers get a free meal just like the "customers".

Sincerely,
Lindsey Schocke
