I just have to say that I stop by this board everyday and I am happy to found it. There is SO much good advice, and the best part I think for me is that it keeps me motivated to try and save. Everyone is SO supportive and nice. Definitely one of the best boards I have been on in ivillage!!!

Hello, I am new to this board....actually have been lurking for some time and just had to say that I am addicted. I am different from probably the majority as I am close to retiring and still have some debt to get rid of. I have gotten some really good ideams and incentives to help me get rid of cc debt. You'd think I would know better by now wouldn't ya.... A few years back we were doing quite well, but then my ds lost his job, his wife had breast cancer, then they separated and are now divorced. But they were financially tanked.....and we decided to help them out some. Probably not a good idea, but when it's your kids what do you do. So as a result I now have a little cc debt again. But reading on this board has helped me so much....I figure we just keep trying and hope we have enough to live on once we are retired. Thanks for letting me vent. JanW.

Thanks Becky, for your encouraging words. I know my ds appreciates all the help, he tells us that all the time. He is working and trying to get back on a better financial footing. But it takes time....baby steps as we call it. Things were going pretty good til the winter, with the high heat bills and gas for the vehicles went out of sight. But we just keep plugging away. You know that's what family is all about....we feel when it's thru hardship if it's possible and you are able to help, we couldn't just turn out back. It's nice to know that someone understands this type of situation. I think I am addicted to this board....it's so encouraging, even the baby steps. Hope things go well for your family too. JanW
