I can just count the weeks until we are out of this tiny house that I hate so much! (It's not a dump, but it's squished in town with no yard and 1 bathroom that you can barely fit 2 people in!)
For those who aren't familiar---we've been saving since we paid off our ccs in May, and were planning on using that as a down payment for another home. (We were going to build but that fell through) Unfortunately, the bank informed us that my waitressing tips won't count as income and our SUV loan is preventing us from getting a high enough loan for something decent. So we decided to use our savings plus any income tax refund to pay the SUV off, which would allow us a bigger loan. Good thing our refund was $3700- that means we have to come up with only $850 after the savings and refund are applied. I am hoping to save that up this month (despite the nasty gas bill!)We are having our refund direct deposited so hopefully it will get here quick!! Then onto getting a preapproval!!
In a few days we are finally putting this place up for sale :)!!!! After we do find a place though we have to pay off my($2900) and dh's ($9000)student loans, so we are not out of the debt woods yet!
Wish me luck on selling this place!!
Nicki

Hello,
Good work on those plans to pay off debt! I'd actually suggest that you finish paying off the student loans completely before moving to a new place. Of course, it depends on how long that would take, but then you'd be able to save up for a larger downpayment (which means smaller mortgage payments) and possibly a 15 year fixed instead of a 30 year fixed.

Lindsey Schocke
